Generally yes, but if the shop knows what it's doing they will only recommend certain types of jewelry for initial piercings...Only stainless steel 316 lvm should be used or gt-23-ti titanium, should be used for initial piercings...No niobium , no acrylic except the mylar grades originally made for dental work, not even 14 kt. gold, as it is an alloy containing nickel and lead, in %ages to high for initial piercing. No acrylic balls,or glow in the dark balls for the initial piercings....Once it has healed completely, about 30 days normally, you can wear most anything.......Hope this helps.....
