Technically, this is called a blighted ovum. If you have not started bleeding and the ultra-sound has not showed any cardio activity in the fetus by a certain time (usually 6 weeks) then the doctor probably would consider it a blighted ovum with no chance of survival. If you do not bleed soon then they will most likely suggest a D&C. I had this exact situation and since my body did not detect that something was wrong with the pregnancy and miscarry on its own it was called a missed abortion or a missed miscarriage. These are considered rare, usually the body will expel the pregnancy tissue before the scan detects no cardio activity.
