Childhood obesity is a major problem whether the media shows it or not. Being overweight as a child leads to serious health problems and being overweight later on in life as well.

Not as such, in controlled, double-blind, peer reviewed clinical studies. However, epidemiological statistics show that being overweight definitely is associated with a shorter life span. From this it would not be unreasonable to generalize to "not being overweight makes you live longer."

Whatever a student does in school will affect what's happening in the students personal life. Whatever is happening in a students personal life, will inevitably affect what happens in a student's academic life. It's all a matter of appropriate balance. The student needs time to be in class, time for study, time for other responsibilities, time for family, time for a social life, and some time to just be alone. This takes good time-management skills that students must develop to be successful.
I believe that academic life is more important, because social life is only in the field of Love/Belonging according to Abraham Maslow's Heirarchy of needs, while academics is in th field of Self-Actualisation, And being good in academics also fills your esteem needs, right. "Study now, Friends later." :-]
