Cramping can happen whenever! I sometimes get cramps 2 weeks before I actually start my period. My worse cramps come the day before and the day of my period.
It is your body's way of preparing for your period. The cramping should only happen at least two or three days before you start your period. If you don't start, it may have been your body releasing an egg. The spotting, is very normal. Again, your body is preparing for your period.
It can happen at any time of the month but usually cramping occurs just before or during your period.
Cramping when you spot before or after your period is perfectly normal but it doesn't happen to every female. If you cramp when you spot you could try placing a hot water bottle against your stomach and rest for a while.

Some women report some cramping and slight spotting around implantation time, others don't notice anything.. so I think it's possible, just does not happen everytime. ~pawsalmighty

Allopatric Speciation usually must happen
Hi there, usually if you have spotting before your period or roughly the same time, it could be a sign of implantation bleeding as this can happen anywhere between 6+ days after ovulation, since you have indicated that you are spotting after your expected period it could either be a very very light period and that you could be pregnant or it is the start of your period. Good luck and hope this helps. PS if you have missed your period now would be a good time to test!!
can be before, but usually and mostly after.
