No; fever increases basal metabolic rate, as a result of the immune response. In response to infection, white blood cell production is ramped up, and a bunch of proteins and carbohydrates are synthesized and metabolized that wouldn't otherwise be, with functions as diverse as mediating inflammation, direct attack on the pathogen causing the infection, and to keep up with increased oxygenation demands created by the production and metabolism of all these immune mediators.

I don't have a source to cite, but work in a neuro intensive care unit, where fever is viewed as so detrimental to adequate brain oxygenation and metabolism that we put patients in blankets to keep them normothermic (98.6F). If necessary, we will intervene to control shivering (which also increases the basal metabolic rate), a common response to the cooling blanket, up to and including induced neuromuscular blockade (paralysis).

What does your bmr do as you age?

As you age, your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) tends to decrease. This decrease is primarily due to factors such as loss of muscle mass, hormonal changes, and overall decrease in physical activity levels. It's important to adjust your calorie intake and activity level to accommodate for this decrease in BMR to maintain a healthy weight.

Why does fever increase YOUR bmr?

Not really. Actually, in case of fever, temperature is increased which causes most of the enzymes to be degraded, therefore enzymatic activity get decreased that leads to lowering of the metabolism rate. Thus, BMR is decreased.

What are the advantages of having a higher BMR?

Generally, young adults have higher Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) than people in their 30's or higher and this makes them slimmer and less likely to gain weight. A person's BMR starts to decrease progressively as he/ she ages.

What does not decrease the metabolic rate?

fever

Does you bmr incresse or decresse as you get older?

Statistically an individual's BMR, or Basal Metabolic Rate will decrease over time as they age. Generally as a result of decreased lean body mass through natural losses and a life becoming more sedantary in nature. Maintaining good physical and aerobic fitness will help keep lean body mass and therefore keep the BMR higher resulting in decreased weight gain.
