I'm 27 year old Male. I'm not entirely positive, but I believe I am developing a thin spot on the back / top of my head. I did some research into it, and have started using Rogain. We'll see if it's effective.
From what I've read, when you're young, 100% of your hair follicles are active. Everyone's hair falls out naturally and regrows, so the head of hair looks full. As men age, some follicles become slower to regrow strands that have fallen out. Eventually, in some men, some follicles cease to produce hair altogether, which eventually causes baldness. My understanding is that if you are a male whose hair is thinning, in some cases, Rogain will restore the vitality of slowing follicles, and can, again, in some cases, slow down or stop the spread of thinning or balding. In some very rare cases, hair will regrow. The conclusions I have seen basically find that Rogiain seems to be most effective in thickening existing hair, and for some reason, it is most effective for balding in the back of the head. Unfortunately, receding hairlines seem to be more of a lost cause.
As a caution, women are not supposed to use Rogain for men. Supposedly, women who use the drug can develop facial hair, and suffer other side effects. Though there is Rogain for women, I can't speak to its effectiveness.
I hope this information is helpful.

Yes. You would wash your hair first to remove buildup and to allow the Rogaine to penetrate the scalp better. Then you would dry your hair and then apply Rogaine.

It doesn't necessarily grow faster, but it does grow healthier. Instead of growing dead ends, its grow stronger hair.
no. taking care of your hair and eating healthy can only help your hair grow faster. your hair probably already grows as fast as the average person. it might just be damaged and breaking off, which gives the illusion that your hair is not growing. get your hair healthy, and you'll start noticing the growth.
