well... depends what you means by worse, from my experience if i smoke When i have a cold. it makes the coughing worse at the time.

however, the cold itself (sneezing, head aches, runny nose) doesnt get worse. the smoking will just make the cough last longer.

so the cold may only last 4 days but the coughing will last 8 days!

my advice is, if you want to smoke whilst you have a cold. dont smoke as much as you normally would!

smoking suppresses the immune system and reduces circulation, so it can cause more frequent and longer outbreaks. Keep in mind, stress is also a trigger for cold sore outbreaks so the stress of not smoking can also lead to worse outbreaks. I would recommend cutting back a bit, getting more sleep, and eating healthier to speed up the process and to keep it away. I'm in the same position right now and as a college student during finals week, let me tell you the stress is definitely a factor. Cheers.

Smoking may slow the healing process, and often makes the cold sore worse.
