It is hard to prove if stress causes NHL because it is difficult to isolate it as a potential cause in studies
However, when I asked my oncologist what he thought, off the record, what was the major contributor to NHL and other cancers he replied without hesitation - 'stress'
NHL is a rare disease so there must be some kind of uncommon seed such as genes or exposure to a contaminant to start with
I believe that chronic stress, or more importantly, the response to stress can play a significant role in cultivating this seed
Personally, I was a person who was constantly stressed - self induced stress you could call it - whether is was through getting uptight about really small everyday issues or pushing myself too hard at work or with exercise (running ultra marathons)
Then, leading up to my NHL diagnosis there were a couple of extraordinary incidents that I believe were the straw that broke the camel's back, namely having my company almost go bankrupt and facing the prospect of huge debts for an extended period (about 18 months before diagnosis) and then having some serious back problems
Again, it is impossible to know for sure but that is my gut feeling
Becoming dehydrated alone does not cause stress. However, when water is not being drank enough and the person becomes dehydrated their stress level can increase, so yes, dehydration can contribute to stress.
Yes, stress can contribute to the development or exacerbation of hemorrhoids. Stress can cause digestive issues and lead to straining during bowel movements, which can increase the pressure on the veins in the rectal area and contribute to the formation of hemorrhoids. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, managing stress levels, and staying hydrated can help prevent hemorrhoids.
Crohn's disease itself does not directly cause lymphoma, but individuals with Crohn's may have an increased risk of developing certain types of lymphoma, particularly due to immunosuppressive treatments used to manage the condition. Chronic inflammation associated with Crohn's may also contribute to this elevated risk. It's important for patients to discuss their individual risk factors with their healthcare provider.

The exact cause of non-Hodgkin's lymphomas is not known.
Mononucleosis, commonly caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), has been associated with an increased risk of certain types of lymphoma, particularly Hodgkin lymphoma and some non-Hodgkin lymphomas. While most people infected with EBV do not develop lymphoma, a small percentage may experience long-term complications. The exact mechanisms linking EBV and lymphoma are still being studied, but the virus can affect immune system function and contribute to malignant transformations in B cells.
The truth is that the effects of moderate stress can be as much of a health hazard as high stress. Moderate stress can raise blood pressure, increase the risk of cancer, contribute to depression, cause fatigue and more.
Certain cancers, such as lymphoma and leukemia, can cause excessive sweating as a symptom.
Certain types of cancers, such as lymphoma and leukemia, can cause night sweats as a symptom.
They can be caused by caffeine intake. Also, stress and anxiety can contribute. Illicit drugs like cocaine can cause this along with alcohol and nicotine. Overexertion is also a likely cause.
Lymphoma is a disease that tends to sneak up on people. Its early warning signs are very subtle and may not be recognized for a while. The most common symptom of lymphoma is enlarged lymph nodes. These will appear most often as bumps in the armpits, groin or neck. They can also appear in the chest, abdomen and on the skin. These swollen lymph nodes are usually slightly painful and tender. However, sometimes the bumps can be firm but not painful. Many people notice these bumps while taking a bath or changing clothes. Unexplained weight loss is another symptom of lymphoma. Lymphoma can cause a significant weight loss of up to fifteen pound in a couple of month's time. In addition to the unexplained weight loss, lymphoma patients may also experience loss of appetite, which will cause further weight loss. Vomiting, nausea and abdominal discomfort may also be present. A fever that does not accompany a respiratory or urinary tract infection could signal lymphoma. Fever that accompanies lymphoma will keep occurring even though there is no infection causing the fever. In addition to fever, night sweats are another symptom of lymphoma. One unique symptom of lymphoma is itching all over the body. This itching is caused by chemicals that are released from the lymphoma cells. Some people have a skin rash that accompanies lymphoma. Extreme tiredness and lack of energy can also indicate lymphoma. When lymphoma is located in the neck or chest, it can cause swelling of the neck and face and difficulty breathing. It can also cause coughing. When the lymphoma is near the thymus, it can cause chest pain. If lymphoma has caused swelling of the spleen, there may be abdominal pain present. Lymphoma can cause back pain if the swollen lymph node is putting pressure on the nerves of the lower back. However, back pain can have may other causes that have no relation to lymphoma. Many of the symptoms of lymphoma can be caused by other minor, easily treatable diseases. Therefore it's important to always consult your physician if you see a pattern of symptoms emerging that suggest that they could be caused by lymphoma.
