Unfortunately no....... they take an "educated guess" which is based entirely on the measurements taken during the ultrasound. You will probably find also, that as the baby grows, the estimated "date of arrival" will also vary upto a week or so either side, because the speed of growth of the baby can differ from one pregnancy to the next and they use these measurements to determine this. The closer it gets to delivery date, the easier it becomes (supposedly!) to determine the exact age of the developing baby. actually the above answer is not accurate i have been a nurse in labor and delivery for 4 years.it depends on when the ultrasound is taken in early pregnancy it can be no more than 5 days off. in late pregnancy close to deliver it can be up tp 3 weeks off because after 20 weeks all baby grow at there own rate. by early pregnancy i mean between 6 and 12 weeks. what most women dont know is everything goes from your last period including ultrasound so in order to find conception date from ultrasound you have to take off two weeks because if you count back even from an ultrasound you will get the first day of your lmp or when the first day should have been if you are irregular. if the period you had was false they will be able to tell you
EDD is ESTIMATED. If done by scan is 38 weeks from conception. An EDD is based on the LMP (last menstrual period) and not the date of conception. The ultrasound measurements are comparing the baby to the expected size of other babies at the same gestational age. The earlier the ultrasound is done in the pregnancy, the more accurate it will be. Hope this helps! Dr. B.
Most of doctors schedule a second ultrasound week twenty of the pregnancy
Fertilization or pregnancy.
Hi An ultrasound provides a picture of the baby in the womb. The date of conception could be intelligently guessed at by your gynacologist, probably to within a couple of days if not better.AnswerThe date of conception would be calculated by the professional and the length of pregnancy is found by working back two weeks before this.Ultrasounds have only been around for thirty years or so and before that the only way of calculating the length of pregnancy was from the first day of the last period - on average two weeks before conception as we now know.
week # 10==================== Using a Doppler ultrasound, the fetal heart can be detected at around the 6th - 7th week of pregnancy these days.
Gender can usually be determined around 20 weeks into pregnancy with an ultrasound.
No, it's still called an ultrasound or a sonogram.
There is only a 1% change of a pregnancy ultrasound being wrong. If you've taken a pregnancy test and then go in for an ultra sound to confirm the pregnancy, chances are you are definitely pregnant.
"Ultrasound scans are routinely offered during pregnancy. You can expect an ultrasound around 18 to 20 weeks in pregnancy. It helps your healthcare provider check on your baby’s health and development. Need more information about your pregnancy, visit Benecare Maternity Hospital to learn more about pregnancy care. It is impossible to say as a term baby could be born from 37 weeks to 42 weeks of pregnancy. You need a due date from a period or an ultrasound to have an idea of conception date
Ultrasound gives an estimate of the age of the foetus. At this stage of the pregnancy, it's quite accurate, but it's still only an estimate, and the date of conception could be a few days, even a week, away from the date 19 weeks and 2 days ago.
Isn't teenage pregnancy actually when the girl carries the baby for nine months, and teenage conception just the same as any other conception, when they have sex?
