You can use a clarifying shampoo that will remove build up from your hair. You can also use a shampoo that you normally use and once you rinse that, you can add some apple cider vinegar in a cup and add a bit of water, with your eyes close and head in the sink pour the apple cider vinegar/water mix in your scalp. Let it sit for a few minutes and then rinse. This will remove build up and add bounce and shine to your hair. However since too much protein makes the hair, shed, dry and brittle, you want to use a good moisturizing conditioner.

Also a hot oil treatment may be necessary as well.

A protein treatment is not recommended for prolong use, only use it when necessary, if not you can possibly cause more damage than good. I recommend maybe having 2 protein treatments a year unless it is recommended by your professional stylist.
