The ONLY way to tell if your dog is infected with Heartworms is to take your dog in to be checked out by a Veterinarian and a simple blood test is done. There are generally no symptoms shown by a dog infected with H/W. In the advanced stages there may be some coughing and generally tired acting. Have your dog tested and if negative put on a year around monthly Heartworm protectant.

MANY different ways but you can tell if a dog has heart worms by gunky ears, bleeding noes(often) or they're having difficulty breathing, they slow right down and preffer resting then running around-if they hadn't been like that already. If any of these symptoms occur even if you're not sure take it to your local vet a.s.a.p to get it cheeked out.
