How can you remove vomit stains from your carpet?

First remove any solids and gently blot up as much liquid as you can. Apply carpet stain cleaner (test on hidden part of carpet), and let sit for a few minutes. Use a clean, white, cloth and 1 teaspoon mild, non-alkali detergent and 1/2 pint lukewarm water to blot up the rest of the stain and cleaner. If the stain remains, try a solution of 1 tablespoon ammonia and 1 cup warm water to clean the area --again just blot, so you do not spread the stain.

Try renting a rug doctor, or you may have to call someone who cleans carpets.

Scoop up all solid and semi-liquid elements of the vomit. Then working from outside in, dab the wet part of the lounge to seep the liquids. Surely, there will be a smell, this means that your lounge would need sanitizing to remove the germs and bacteria. It will be best to call a professional cleaner. Vomit has hydrochloric acid in it, so that part may be bleached out not stained. Wash the whole are with a combination of dish detergent and laundry detergent with a bit of tepid water. If you put too much soap on , you'll be forever rinsing.
