Little is known about the actual cause of "Night Fall" or "Wet Dreams," although there are plenty of myths and speculation. They are natural and most common during adolescence and early young adult years. However, they may happen any time during or after puberty. The emission may happen with or without an erection, and it is possible to wake up during, or to simply sleep through, the ejaculation.

Research has shown no "conclusive" connection between masturbation frequency and "Night Falls," nor has it shown that erotic thoughts or dreams accompany them, nor rubbing against blankets, the bed or a full bladder. But neither has it been disproved. However, widely known sex researcher Alfred Kinsey found "There may be some correlation between the frequencies of masturbation and the frequencies of nocturnal dreams. In general the males who have the highest frequencies of nocturnal emissions may have somewhat lower rates of masturbation."

Therefore, it may be possible that you can reduce the frequency of your "Night Falls" by masturbating more, or by becoming sexually active.

Some claim that increased stress will increase the frequency of "Night Falls."

Wearing undershorts to bed may help prevent staining your sheets, but if you are producing large quantities of semen, staining of the sheets is more difficult to avoid. Sleeping with a thick towel under you may help eliminate sheet staining. It is really nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed of. It happens with all boys and can continue into adulthood, even in your 60's.
