Alois Alzheimer studied a 51 year old patient named Mrs. Auguste Deter in 1901 and became his obsession for 5 years until her death in 1906. Mrs. Deter showed peculiar symptoms such as short term memory and other odd behaviors. By 1911 Scientists were diagnosing Alzheimer's disease in America.
