How did people prevent the black death?

-Lock themselves in their house, and wouldn't go outside or let anyone in. If they were walking around the streets there was a high chance that they'd catch the Plague.

-Pray to God, and beg for his forgiveness. If God thinks you have done something wrong, he will give you the Plague, as punishment.

-Kill all cats and dogs - Some believe they caused the Plague.

-Do daily checks, look out for: Dark swellings in the armpit or groin (buboes)

people tried to avoid the black death in many ways. some were quite strange, but then again it was the middle ages. some peasents would put a gold coin in there mouth, whilst others would sit in a sewer for 2 hours. EWW.

none of these theorys actually worked. Then out of the blue a doctor (no-one knows his name) said that the only way to cure the black death is to swirl a bag of lavender in front of you 5 times then lay the bag on the ground and jump over it. we know that he was wrong because he died of the black death.

then a month later another doctor turned up and said that microscopic bugs were to blame. he of cours was right. although he did die aswell. but not of the black death, he was murdered by towns folk.

Improved hygiene and time is what stopped the plague. As the plague started spreading people did not allow others into their communtities and shied away from other people. These things evetually stopped it, everything else is what didn't work.They tried carrying flowers in their pockets, they tried all sorts of herbs, religion, and anything else they could fathom, they were desperate.

People would try to get away from the black death by putting folwers in their noses, cleaning their house very good and closing their windows and doors very good, but bactira would still come into their houses because their houses were not competly closed

They did many things. Burned the houses and the bodies, isolated people, put them on islands ( Venice, Italy did this), burned herbs, but they didn't understand that the basic problem was the fleas and how they needed to keep things clean.
