Active TB can be diagnosed via the following Process:
1-History of contact with a TB Patient.
2-Non specific TB symptoms such as fever , malaise , anorexia and weight loss.
3-If TB is suspected a Mantoux test is perforemed , and induration measured ,
an induration of more than 10mm with no BCG adminstration , or 15mm with BCG vaccination implies active TB.
4-Culture of the bacteria can be done , in children as they swallow the sputum , collection is done by 3 consecutive gastric washings , to isolate the organism , in adults however the organism can be isolated from the coughed sputum.
5-The organism is cultured , a positive culture denotes active TB.
6-The organism is viewed as acid fast bacilli with zeihl nelsen stain , and tested for antibiotic sensitivity.
a Tb tine test. Which is a sub Q shot of ppd that within 48 hours needs to be checked for a reaction. If there is no reaction your good. If there is a positive reaction it is followed up by a chest x-ray and then medicine.
Approximately one-quarter of the world's population is estimated to be infected with tuberculosis (TB), often in the form of latent TB, which means they are not currently ill but carry the bacteria. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), around 1.5 billion people are believed to have latent TB. However, only a small percentage of these individuals will develop active TB disease over their lifetime. Efforts to diagnose and treat TB continue to be a global health priority.
Intestinal tuberculosis (TB) is a rare form of tuberculosis that occurs when the Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria infect the intestines. It often results from the spread of pulmonary TB or can arise from ingestion of infected materials. Symptoms may include abdominal pain, diarrhea, weight loss, and fever, making it challenging to diagnose. Treatment typically involves a prolonged course of antitubercular medications.

Testing for TB PCR in menstrual blood can help diagnose tuberculosis of the female reproductive tract, such as tuberculous endometritis or salpingitis. This can be important in cases where other tests like sputum or tissue biopsies are inconclusive. Testing menstrual blood for TB PCR can provide a noninvasive and easily accessible sample for diagnosis.
its a quick blood test to be done to diagnose TB weather its pulmonary or extra pulmonary. some times it gives false positive report if the client is vaccinated with BCG. THANKS
