How do you calm down a bad temper?

Try to take a few minutes away from the thing or person that is bothering you. Scream into a pillow if you have to. Do some deep breathing and dont think about it. Keep your mind off the topic until you have fully calmed down. If you are dealing with kids...try to have them sit down and do a quiet activity or watch a movie while you calm down. If they do calm down tell them that they have done a good job at calming down and having quiet time. Tell them a story from a book or another quiet activity to keep them busy for a while. Them once you have cooled down give them a prize from a prize box* and tell them if they keep acting good they will get another prize! This is a good tip for baby sitters. * A prize box is a box (a shoe box decorated in construction paper will do) with little cheap toys for the kid or coupons for games to play with the sitter.
