I am not a doctor, but I don't think anyone would disagree: you can't get rid of a cold in a few hours. But, sometimes a cold can actually improve the sound of a voice. It could be some disguised good fortune. You could try one of the commercially available sinus rinses, like SinuCleanse. There are others, and I have absolutely no connection with SinuCleanse except that I am a frequent and satisfied user. It won't cure the cold, but it may offer some relief. Use it with distilled water and not tap water. It is best when the water is at room temperature, or very very slightlywarm. You want to gently rinse the sinuses, not scald them. I put water into the pot and then set the pot in a bath (a small container that is able to hold the pot- nothing elaborate) of warm water for a few minutes. Follow directions, but you can use the sinus rinse 2 or 3 times in a day. It is very refreshing and not much of anything enters your system. Best of luck with the performance.
