All acne is hormone related, it is triggered during puberty by testosterone (yes, even women have testosterone in smaller amounts than men).

Acne are clogged pores and can get infected, I use a luffa (a.k.a loofah http:/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luffa), when you take a shower pour soap/body-wash on it and GENTLY scrub yourself, this will unclog the pores and reduce the amount of acne.

If you are still having acne in big amounts after puberty you should question what you are eating. Try eating more chicken (which should be hormone free in the USA, if you are not from the USA, you need to check specifically if this is true in your country). Eat food high in Vitamin A and E, this should get the acne under control.

Try eating correctly before going for medication (attack the root cause, not the symptoms)
