You don't. To do that would be to make something completely sterile, a concept incredibly hard to achieve in real life. Even the antibacterial soaps make claims to remove 99.9% of all germs. Guess what, that 0.1 percent is an incredible amount. Nearly one million bacteria cells can fit on the head of a pin. 0.1% of that number is still 1000 total bacteria. Not to mention that this thousand is now resistant to that antibiotic, and therefore potentially more dangerous.
Plus, many types of bacteria are good for you, such as the ones in your colon that help you digest food.
Anyway, you cannot rid yourself of all germs.

The body gets rid of germs through the immune system's response. This can include producing antibodies to fight the infection, activating white blood cells to destroy the germs, and eliminating them through processes like coughing, sneezing, and sweating. The lymphatic system also plays a role in filtering out and removing germs from the body.
I think it's to get rid of the germs inside your body that can harm you. xoxo

The reason you cough is because there are too many germs in your body, and your body tries to get rid of it. Spit out the mucus! :)
