The most determing factor of a sociopath is that they deny and project their behaviour onto their "victim". I AM NOT, ITS YOU, IT WASN'T ME, IT WAS YOU YOU ARE THE ONE, YOU ARE DOING THIS TO ME!!!YOU ARE A LIAR!!.They are also very paranoid-when they overhear youinnocently mention their name they accuse YOU ARE PLOTTING AGAINST ME.They set people up s scapegoats, manipulate and deceive. They are also extremely aggressive but hide it from others.They are also very charming externally-Only their "victim" knows the true Jekyll and Hyde character they truly are, nobody else can believe it,, until its their turn that it.

There is little way to know for certain, and if they are young then perhaps it would be best not to assume anything. A psychologist could probably tell you, but it is not ethical to diagnose anyone under the age of 18. A sociopath feels no guilt or remorse, and may only hold back from hurting others if he is uncertain that he will get away with it. If you believe your child to lack empathy, then try to teach them some, show them that other people feel. Don't forget that nearly all children are highly self-centred. The world revolves around them and so while they no doubt will feel a strong affection for their family and friends, empathy probably isn't something that is as acute in children as it is in adults. I myself felt very little guilt or empathy until around the age of 15, but I definitely feel it now.
