Kwashiorkor is a condition of protein deficiency characterized by lack of musculature, "moon face" and discoloration of hair, for example from normal black hair to reddish brown. In order to create a scientific study to prove kwashiorkor is from protein deficiency, you would have to have subjects who would be willing to participate in the testing. There will be no human volunteers for this type of study.
It is already proven that the cause of kwashiorkor is protein deficiency. In my opinion, proving this using the scientific method would be redundant and cruel. Cruel because you would have to induce a protein deficient state in humans and compare these results with normal subjects. It is not necessary to do this type of study.
If you have a test population of subjects with the disease, you could take blood samples and prove their serum albumin levels are lower than the normal subjects in your test. Then you could have a double blind controlled study and employ scientific method. Finding kwashiorkor patients before they have had any protein replacement is most difficult unless you are working in seriously underdeveloped parts of the world. Even when you find them, you may want to feed them rather than study them.
Kwashiorkor is caused by a deficiency of protein. The scientific response to eat is to feed the child protein-rich foods; the traditional response is to feed the child other foods, such as cassava.
marasmus could be one... another is kwashiorkor...
Kwashiorkor (Protein malnutrition) is not a disease that it transmitted. Kwashiorkor is caused by a lack of protein in the diet.
Insufficient protein in the diet is the cause of protein malnutrition. Scientific term for protein malnutrition is Kwashiorkor.
I don't know of _ but i know about the disease caused by the deficiency of proteins that is kwashiorkor.
There are quite a few deficiency diseases. Scurvy is caused by a vitamin C deficiency, Rickets is caused by a vitamin D deficiency, and Paresthesia is the from the lack of vitamin B5.
Kwashiorkor
A disease caused by lack of all macronutriets (carbohydrates, fats, and protein) is kwashiorkor. Symptoms include a swollen abdomen, cracking and scaly skin, and reddish hair. The mortality is about 60% and it also affects a person's physical and mental development.Another related disease is Marasmus. Marasmus is caused by a lack of protein. This is generally less severe than Kwashiorikor.
Protein deficiency can lead to conditions such as kwashiorkor and marasmus, which are forms of malnutrition characterized by severe protein-energy deficiency. These conditions can result in symptoms like muscle wasting, weakened immunity, stunted growth, and impaired organ function. It is important to consume adequate amounts of protein to maintain overall health and well-being.
Beri beri, rickets, anemia, goitre, night blindness, scurvy e.t.c. R da diseases caused by the deficiency of some nutritions........
They are diseases caused by lack vitaminsthe diseases caused are:rickets, beri beri, scruvy, kwashiorkor.
Kwashiorkor primarily affects young children, particularly those between the ages of 1 and 3, due to their increased nutritional needs during growth. It is caused by a severe deficiency in protein despite adequate caloric intake, often seen in areas with food scarcity or poor dietary quality. While adults can also suffer from protein deficiency, they are less likely to develop kwashiorkor compared to children. The condition is particularly prevalent in regions facing famine or economic hardship.
