Yesterday, my husband was burnt in a house fire started by our daughter and a candle in the bathroom. It caught her robe on fire. By the time she yelled and my husband got there the fire was going pretty good. He grabbed her robe off the back of the bathroom door and burnt his hand pretty bad. After the fire was out he was in great pain and he put his hand under cold running water. That gave him some relief. I took him to the hospital and the doctor said that putting his hand in cold water was the best thing he could have done because it helped cool down the burn. The doctor said the worse thing you can do is put butter or anything that coats it and keeps the heat in, like egg whites, cream, milk etc. So try cold water with some ice in it, use some ice because cold water doesn't stay cold long with the heat from the burn. I hope this helps somebody who needs it.
