you can tame it by slapping it up side the head with a bat and say bad in a mean voice so it knows you mean business.

Even other mods like Mo' creatures, adds creatures and lets you tame them, like horses, cats, goats, big-cats and such.

Not as of now, because chickens are "passive", non- "tamable" mobs. You can probably download some sort of mod that allows you to do so, though.
they are noiseier than hens, they lay there eggs in random places which you have to find, they are not happy in confinement so you need plenty of land or live in the country side and they are not as tame as chickens, but on a plus side they will look after themselves and are intersting to watch.
Only Wolves and Ocelots (cats) can be tamed, so far anyway. To get sheep, chickens and cows to follow you, have a hand full of grain showing.
