As a woman facing that same unknown herself, the only advice that I can give is just to be honest. Try your best to not frighten him by drawing it out, just sit him down and explain that you have to share something painful with him.
That's what I plan to do when I get home. I'm going to sit him down and tell him that I need his help to be strong, that I am scared and hurt, and that I had a miscarriage.
Keeping it a secret isn't an option, he will know that something is bothering you because you just can't hide a hurt like that.
