How does a baby breath when the water breaks?

The baby wont begin to breathe as such, until it is born. it will still receive oxygenated blood from its mother via the umbilical cord. this is enough until it is stimulated to breathe after delivery.

The baby won't breathe as long as it is connected to the umbilical cord of the mother. This is because the maternal circulation provides blood flow to the baby, taking away carbon dioxide and providing oxygen.

Once the cord is cut, the baby still "burns" oxygen and produces carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide dissolves in your blood which turns it more acidic, but only mildly so. The baby's brain detects this change in blood acidity which triggers a reflex action to breathe.

It is very difficult for the baby to breathe for the first time because all of it's airways and lungs are collapsed, but once it starts it's quite easy to continue breathing, because of a detergent like substance called surfactant that lines the internal parts of the lungs, called alveoli.

Baby does not breath in the amniotic fluid. Baby need not breath in mothers womb. It gets oxygen from the mother's blood. Once born, baby takes a deep breath and then shouts a cry to make the mother and every body else, too much happy.
