In my experience, there are generally two kinds of kicks to the gonads:

(1) The kind where you get off easy. The testicles are generally good at avoiding damage by squirming out of the way, thanks their oval shape. They get pushed out to the sides of the foot and escape most harm. This hurts, maybe enough to drop you to your knees, but you're up again in a minute or so, still in some pain but laughing it off.

(2) You're not so lucky. For one reason or another, your nuts /don't/ squirm out of the way, and as a result basically get flattened. The foot slams into your crotch and turns your testicles into pancakes, crushed against your pelvis, before it pulls away and your balls are allowed to slowly reinflate (assuming it hasn't popped them). This kind of kick in the balls makes you wish you were dead -- you spend a good half an hour curled up in the fetal position, making a strange mewling noise and trying not to vomit. Your balls ache for at least a day afterwards, and probably the next time you blow a load.
