Because people with annorexia only concentrate on their looks and bodies. They cant concentrate on anything else. schoolwork, jobs, families, nothing. And they get morbid and depressed, and just feel like nothings going to work out and feel like lying in bed all day. And it also affects the families because its hard on them to see one of their family members feeling this way.
It depends on the exact person. Many people with anorexia try and live as normal lives as possible. Often they go about with normal tasks like work or school. Much of their time and thoughts are consumed by ideas of food, calories, working out, weight, and so on.
It could be anorexia, just by its very definition, but there are so many other factors to consider...
There are not really statistics fir the number of people who suffer from anorexia in a specific area or location, as this data is hard to accurately give so so many people go undiagnosed. A good estimate used, though, is about 1 in every 250 people will suffer from anorexia or anorexic tendencies.

Roughly 1 in every 200 people in the United States has anorexia. The estimated population of the US (July 2008) was just over 300 million. So that's about 1.5 million people or so who have at least some form of anorexia.
Anorexia can disrupt homeostasis by causing severe changes in body weight and disrupting normal metabolic functions. The body may struggle to maintain proper nutrient balance and energy levels, leading to deficiencies and complications in various organ systems. Severe malnutrition from anorexia can also impact hormones, leading to disruptions in the endocrine system and further affecting homeostasis.
About 1 in every 200 people or so suffers from an eating disorder, most commonly bulimia or anorexia.

Millions have done just so. It is estimated that 1 in every 250 people suffer from anorexia. Of those, very few ask for help. Most are forced into rehab or help.
