It doesn't. Intelligence has no bearing on the state of anyone's mental health. It is the thinking that it does which creates the stigma still being fought by advocates of those who are in emotional pain. One might as well ask how intelligence affects physical health as it is the same question, mental/physical is not divisible, it's a complete system woven together.
Intelligence might help someone with health problems since they would be more likely than someone less so to seek answers and solutions for themselves, so whilst it has no effect on the condition perhaps a deal of it is useful if extricating oneself from the condition if it is possible to do so.
