on a similar note (and some what involved) the way in wich colour travels to ur eyes is that white light (the kind that comes from the sun and lights and such) bounces upon items the colour u see is a mix of all the colour that that item does not soak in. black is the absence of colour(things that ll colour goes into) and white is the fullness of colour(when all coour is reflected)
