How does mental illness have an impact on the individual including psychological emotional practical and financial elements?

Poor mental health is characterized by the presence of a physical event in the brain that hard wires harmful thinking. As thinking influences the way a person feels, rigid thought pattern produces emotions that remain for prolonged periods of time. A person with good mental and therefore good emotional health does not suffer from prolonged harmful thought and therefore does not suffer from excessive negative emotion such as fear, anger, hate, etc.

Psychology is based on similar concepts.

It is suggested (as a generalization) that animals do not suffer from poor mental health (and therefore emotional health) in part due to limited conscious thought. This restricts the ability for a physical event in the brain to occur (given certain thinking) and as a result animals tend to not engage in self harm.

Certain froms of poor mental health and emotional health are characterized by excessive consious thought (schizophrenia, depression). This suggests that the presence of excessive conscious thought indicates the absence of correct subconscious thinking.

What causes the absence of correct subconscious thinking and therefore poor mental and emotional health is open to debate. Personality and genetic differences can provide a different interpretation to a series of events resulting in a different subconscious thought pattern. As a generalization, subconscious deficiency is caused by experience which for many is to painful to mention.

A person suffering from a mental illness of any kind will have that illness impact their entire life.

Emotionally, they could be unable to express or identify what they are feeling and be unable to socialize or maintain relationships. Isolation is a big issue in mental illness, where the person begins to move away from loved ones and interactions because they don't feel that they can be successful.

Financially, mental illness can obviously cause an enormous array of problems.

If a person is considered mentally "disabled", where they cannot keep any employment or a job that they were trained to succeed at, then they will be without any income. They might have to apply and receive (in the U.S.) Social Security Disability, which is not adequate to cover all of their needs.

Often times a large part of the homeless population is considered mentally ill in some form, and homelessness is a big problem with those who cannot be successful in a living situation. (Can't pay their rent, can't be independent and live on their own or be responsible in an independent living environment)

Families of the mentally ill often times cannot successfully interact with the individual if they are not considered "stable" due to inappropriate actions and interactions. There is always difficulty in any interpersonal relationship with a person suffering from any mental illness which is why therapy is always useful and indicated.

Substance abuse is always a high risk for anyone who has mental illness, and therefore, emotionally a person could be attempting to "escape" their thoughts, actions, and feelings because they are in pain or suffering outwardly, or inwardly.

74% of addicts have mental illness in one form or another. (called "dual diagnosed" meaning addiction and another co-existing mental disorder/illness)

A person whom is living in an unstable, underdiagnosed situation who has mental illness is likely to be incapable of truly being content , and therefore it is so important that they get treatment, as the illness impacts their entire life, as well as those who care for them.
