Over a very long period of time, and really only for a significant weight change.

Your bones are constantly being (desolved and) rebuilt to match the strain put on them.

If you're way over-weight, your back and leg bones will become stronger, as you loose weight they will become weaker (assuming that your level of exercise remains constant).
