It's simple! Whether male or female, a urine stream is never 'straight'. It's more like a stream or creek with side paths where less water follows its own path. The difference between males and females is the male penis helps direct the urine, and because the penis adds at least 3" to the length of the stream, men do not typically notice (unless watching) when their streams 'split' and follow their own paths. (Whoever cleans the bathroom, though, notices urine splashes and dribbles from males where urine streams went to the right or left.)

There is NO way for females to urinate standing up without urine getting on the inside of her thighs. In fact, even when sitting, females sometimes have urine streams that are not very straight, or that split into 2 or 3 smaller streams.
