Your blood does not, in fact, change colors at all. It is never blue, at any part of your life. Oxygen rich blood, in arteries, is bright red because it carries oxygen. Oxygen poor blood, in veins, is dark red because it is not carrying oxygen. This change of 'color' happens in the lungs, rather quickly, because you breathe at a somewhat fast rate.
