Vaccines are carefully prepared to give our immune system a sample of a disease causing bug/organism so as to induce it to make anti bodies against the bug and store it in the 'immunologic memory' so to speak...

so basically you are given a disease infection (in its mildest, safest form) so that the next time your body detects that it has been exposed to the real deal,it is ready with hundreds of thousands of cells churning out antibodies that decimate the infection.

vaccines can be a toned down version of a live bug (oral polio vacc), a dead organism (inj.polio vacc), parts of an organism (meningococcal) or just a sample of the toxin produced (tetanus)...

How does a DNA vaccine prevent future disease?

A DNA vaccine contains DNA from a pathogen but cannot cause disease. When the vaccine is injected into a patient, the DNA directs the synthesis of a protein. Antibodies are produced by the body against the protein. If the patient contracts the disease in the future, the antibodies in his or her body will be able to provide protection.

Should you get chickenpox vaccine if you already had the disease?

My Daughter age 9 has Chickenpox at the moment and she has been immunised against it, as far as i am aware, the Vaccine does not prevent you from getting the disease at all it just helps to lessen the severity!! My daughter has not got a very bad case of it at all, she was quite unwell for the first day with a mild fever and a few blisters popping up but the next day she was running around like nothing was wrong, her biggest complaint has been that she is itchy, but oatmeal in the bath worked the best in this case!!

When was a vaccine for leprosy created?

There is no widely recognized vaccine for leprosy (Hansen's disease) like there are for many other diseases. However, the Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccine, primarily used for tuberculosis, has shown some effectiveness in providing protection against leprosy. This use of BCG as a leprosy vaccine began in the 1980s, but it is not a formal vaccine specifically designed for leprosy. Efforts to develop a dedicated leprosy vaccine continue, but as of now, no specific vaccine has been approved for widespread use against leprosy.

Addiction is a disease. If they have gotten treatment, it would be like suing someone for getting chemotherapy....or for having cancer. Just leave them if you can't handle it. The suing part shows your disease.....being controlling and vengeful. Sounds like you probably need some counselling.
