Tourette's Syndrome is a neurological disease, and is not the same as other diseases like colds and flu. Tourettes, like other tic disorders, is present from birth, but unlike most other neurological disorders it does not usually show symptoms until later in life, typically age 4-6. This means it is genetic, and you can't "catch" tics from someone.
