There is no way (currently known) to prevent Diabetes type 1.

To prevent diabetes type 2, you need to maintain a healthy diet and you need to exercise. Avoid too many refined (processed) carbohydrates and this includes grains, sugar and products containing sugar. Refined/processed carbohydrate is a major cause of weight gain, obesity, and many diet related diseases. For a list of refined (processed) carbohydrates, see the page link, further down this page, listed under Related Questions.

What is obesity AND diabetes?

Obesity increases one's chances of having type 2 diabetes. Obesity can lead to insulin resistance, a hormone that is necessary for blood sugar management. When the body develops insulin resistance, sugar absorption in the blood is reduced or absent, resulting in elevated blood sugar levels. Type 2 diabetes can be prevented or delayed by losing merely 5 to 7% of your body weight.

Hereditary means that it is in your genes & cannot be prevented but familial means that it runs in your family..like if your mother has a heart attack or diabetes because of her diet and lifestyle then because you are in her family with her same diet then you could too have a heart attack or diabetes but if you change your lifestyle and eat better you wont....so to make a long story longer.... hereditary is genes and cant be prevented but familial can be avoided. How do you prevent type 1 and type 2 diabetes?

you can't prevent type 1 diabetes. you have to have certain chromosomes [traits from your parents, grandparents, and/or so on...] OR you need certain DNA's to be lined up in a certain way. type 1 diabetes is usually common to get when you're younger [age 9-20] but people as young as when their born-90 years old can get it also. type 2 diabetes, on the other hand, can be prevented with exercise and eating right. it's common for older people [30-70 years old] to get type 2 diabetes. but, people as young as 2 can get it, and people as old as 90 can get it also.

Can diabetes cause your feet to burn on the bottom?

Neuropathy is a common problem in patients with diabetes. Unfortunately, it is only partially prevented by good glucose control. Neuropathy can cause numbness, tingling, or burning in the affected areas, which is not reversible. It is usually progressive. Neuropathy not only occurs in the somatic nerves (sensory nerves), but also in the autonomic nerves, where it causes gastroparesis.

Which diabetes does the offspring get if one has diabetes?

Diabetes is a complicated disease. Sometimes it skips from generation to generation, not every person who has diabetes will pass it onto their children. As for what type of diabetes will be passed on depends also. It can be Type 1/Juvenile Diabetes or Type 2 Diabetes. Juvenile/Type 1 is an onset at an early age most of the time, I developed full blown Type 1 at the age of 17, some are born with Type 1, and sometimes it doesn't set in until later on. Type 1 is inevitable because it is genetic and cannot be prevented. Type 2 can be prevented if a person stays healthy and fit. Supposedly Drew Carey is not longer a Type 2 Diabetic because he lost all his weight and his pancreas is now working correctly. However, there is also pre-diabetes, which is where the pancreas is starting to not produce enough insulin; that will, in turn, cause a person to be first type 2 once the pancreas fails to produce sufficient amounts of insulin, and possibly later on the pancreas could cease to produce any insulin, making a person type 1 diabetic. I have a few friends who have diabetic relatives and they are pre-diabetic and their blood sugar levels are higher than normal, but they aren't in danger for diabetes just yet. Hope this helps.
