You usually don't unless possibly if it was a late one. The majority of all miscarriages occur in the first trimester and if the embryo/fetus did not come out you will need a D&C and then you can go home the same day. The procedure takes about 10 minutes.

I had the D & C at 10am, and was home by 4pm. They keep you in for a couple of hours to monitor your blood pressure, tempurature, and check you are not bleeding excessively. If everything is ok, you can go home.

Usually you dont stay in the hospital if you miscarry, when i miscarried i went home from the OBGYN. They said to let nature run its course.

You usually don't have to stay at all. If everything has come out you can go home and if not they will give you a surgical abortion to remove the remains and you go home after.
