Typically, it takes about 24 to 72 hours for food to travel through the digestive system and reach the colon after consumption. The process begins in the stomach, where food is broken down, and continues through the small intestine, where nutrients are absorbed. Once the food reaches the large intestine (colon), it is further processed before elimination. The exact timing can vary based on individual metabolism, the type of food eaten, and overall digestive health.
Maybe I misunderstand your question, but... ... as the small and large intestine are joined to each other (exit small intestine and enter the large intestine), the food moves between the two almost instantaneously.

From eating to excretion, it takes about fifty-three hours to digest food. The first six to eight hours passing through the stomach into the small intestine, and an average of forty hours digesting in the large intestine.
