I had a graph done (bottom right) 11 weeks ago. I will go in the two implants next year. I still have numbness in my lip and most of my chin. I'm not sure if this is normal...sure wish I had feeling.

Are dental implants safe and permanent for missing teeth?

Dental implants are generally considered a safe and long-term solution for replacing missing teeth when performed by an experienced dental professional. They are typically made of biocompatible titanium, which integrates with the jawbone through a natural process called osseointegration, creating a stable and durable foundation. This strong bond allows implants to function much like natural teeth in terms of chewing and appearance. With proper oral hygiene, regular dental visits, and healthy lifestyle habits, dental implants can last for decades and are often viewed as a permanent option. However, their longevity depends on factors such as bone quality, gum health, and overall medical condition. While complications are rare, risks like infection, implant failure, or minor nerve irritation can occur if aftercare instructions are not followed. Smoking and uncontrolled health conditions may also reduce success rates. Overall, dental implants are one of the most reliable and effective treatments for restoring missing teeth.
