It varies. From the onset of abdominal pain to the organ bursting can take anywhere from hours in extreme cases to days. Delaying going to the hospital can make the procedure far more complicated, especially if the appendix perforates or bursts before surgery, and so you should get to an emergency room quickly, especially if you experience a sudden relief of symptoms for no reason as this may indicate a full scale burst has finally occurred.

I wouldn't wait more than a few hours,if left untreated the appendice could perforate and cause severe posoining. I thought I had appendicitis and waited two days it turned out my bowel had perforated and i nearly died.My intestines had stuck together and I was told if I waited another hour I wouldn't be here now,so see a Dr.
