6 - 8 weeks.
I have a spiral fracture in my left left of the fibula..This happened 4 weeks ago and I have been in a fiberglass cast ever since. I will be in this cast for 2 more weeks then I will be in a boot for 2-4 more weeks after. The drs have told me not to put weight on the leg as it could compress the 2 separate bone pieces together and make my fibula shorter than before my fall.
I had a Spiral fracture in my distal fibula. There was no displacement (I got really lucky in that respect). The surgeon decided to just put me a in a walking boot. I had an appointment after a week and my doctor told me I could put some weight on it. The Fibula does not bear very much weight. I was walking with the boot after 2 1/2 weeks. After 4 weeks I don't even need the boot.
How long a cast is on depends on the location of the hairline fracture. In sensitive areas the cast will need to be worn longer.
Your doctor will tell you how to wear it.
Yes you get a walking boot.
If you have fractured your ankle and it did not require surgery, you will likely have to wear a cast for 6 to 8 weeks. If you require surgery, or there are other complications, you may need to wear the cast for longer.
Other than the cast you'll wear for a couple of months (and perhaps some pins, which are sometimes temporarily inserted to stabilize the fracture), you should be fine.
After a cast for a broken fibula, you may need to wear a walking boot or brace to provide support and protection as you gradually return to normal activities. Physical therapy exercises and stretches may also be recommended to help regain strength and mobility in the leg. It's important to follow your doctor's guidance on what to wear and how to progress in your recovery.
To determine this, it is necessary to know the specifics about the type of fracture, bone(s) involved, etc. The best person to ask this question to is a doctor, specifically an orthopedist, a surgeon specializing in the skeletal system.
Alex Trebek had his hand in a cast due to a fall he experienced in 2009. The accident resulted in a fracture that required him to wear a cast for healing. Trebek addressed the injury publicly, reassuring fans that it would not interfere with his ability to host "Jeopardy!"
A splint is used to support and protect a foot fracture by keeping the bones in place. It helps reduce pain, swelling, and further injury. It is important to follow medical advice on how long to wear the splint and when to remove it for proper healing.
6 MONTHS
it depends how badly you break your arm usually it is about 6 weeks
Yes, it is often recommended to wear a special sandal or orthopedic shoe after a foot fracture. These footwear options provide better support, stability, and protection while allowing for proper healing. They also accommodate any necessary dressings or casts, helping to prevent further injury. Always consult with a healthcare provider for personalized recommendations based on the specific type of fracture.
