Answer "how long do women ovulate"Women typically ovulate from the beginning of puberty (all eggs are fully formed at birth, and the change in hormone levels during puberty is what sets off the cycle of releasing them) approximately once every 28 days right up until menopause, which can occur as early as 30 years old, or as late as 60 (the average age for the onset of menopause is 51). It is important to note, however, that although women may be phsyically able to conceive well past middle age, it is very dangerous for both the mother and the fetus, and a condition called aneuploidy (incorrect number of chromosomes) occurs in 33% of pregnancies for women aged 35, and 50% for women aged 40. Also, when women are 25 the odds of having a child with Down syndrome is 1 in 1,500; but at the age of 45 the odds are 1 in 30.

If I completely misread the question, and you just wanted to know how long the process of releasign one egg takes, there is a much simpler answer: it only takes a couple hours for the ovum to travel through the fallopian tubes, and the "fertile phase" consists of the few days (let's say, 4) BEFORE ovulation. The oocyte (egg) degenerates after 24 hours in the uterus if it has not been fertilized. Although the womb is a harsh place for anything but a fetus, sperm can survive for several days in there, thus, women are most fertile just before ovulation.

Numbers given are a bit pessimistic here's from the Down's Society page

When would someone ovulate if her period is every 21 days?

You have your period a fixed 14 days after you ovulate. So if a woman has her period every 21 days, she ovulates on 21-14=7...the 7th day after the 1st day of her period.

How many days after period do you ovulate?

When you ovulate depends on your menstrual cycle. You ovulate two weeks BEFORE your period, so how soon after your period you ovulate depends on how long your menstrual cycle is.

How fertile is a woman immediately after her period?

How fertile a woman is after menstruation depends on the woman and on her menstrual cycle. During the average 28 day cycle a woman is most likely to ovulate on day 14 and can be fertile between days 7-16 - if a woman's cycle is shorter she could ovulate directly after menstruation so be at her most fertile.

What days can you get pregnant out of one month?

For every woman it is different. If you have a 28 day cycle then typically you ovulate (release an egg) 14 days after the first day of your cycle. Then, we assume that four days before to four days after THAT day are fertile days. That is when a woman can conceive.

Does a woman ovulate right after her menstural cycle?

That depends on the length of her cycle. The average cycle is 28 days, meaning that she would most likely ovulate 14-16 days in (counting from after the first day of the last period). But that isn't true for all women.

Can a woman get pregnant 13 days before her expected period?
