Young women from the time they go into puberty (10 - 12 they can start their periods) up to 16 they can miss several months of their periods. For young women older to adult women then they may well miss a period and start the next month. If you are over 16 and you have missed several periods it's time to see your doctor to be sure all is well. The Birth Control pill/patch can also cause you to miss a few periods. This is something your doctor should have warned you about. Perimenopause (can happen from 35 years or up) where your body is getting ready to go into menopause (can last a few years) may cause you to miss periods and some women may not have them for 2 - 3 months or even 6 months. Again it's important to see your doctor. When menopause occurs then the periods cease. Stress can also delay periods or make them erratic.
