None die from polio. sorry, not true...many old cases of polio proved to cause paralysis, obviously. But if it spreads to the respiratory muscles, it can, in fact, kill you. This was when the iron lung was designed. I have no idea how many people die each year, but they do.

Polio was completely wiped out by the early 60's. Vaccinations completely eradicated the virus.
