IS IT SAFE and EVEN HEALTHFUL TO INHALE FINELY POWDERED SALT such as to alleviate or asthma?

As far as I know, you shouldn't inhale finely powdered salt. Please research the "salt pipe" or "salt inhaler". You do not inhale finely powerded salt in a salt pipt, you simply inhale through the pipe where the rock salts are stored... you only get molecule sized particles which are supposed to be healing and act as an anti-inflamatory. This is supposed to help asthma, over a period of time, to encourage healing of the lungs broncial tissues... It is NOT intended to replace a rescue inhaler... even if the new HFA inhalers do not work for you, as myself, and many others are reporting, thanks to the change of propellant, which is a known broncial constricter... smart eh?! I now have to carry a portable nebulizer because I am allergic to the corn based propellant in the HFA's are made from corn... ETHANOL. Hope this helps. PS. I am personally using a salt pipe. Although it has not completely healed my lungs... I do notice that when I use it faithfully on a daily basis... my asthma is not as severe. It is my hope to one day NOT have to carry my mini nebuliser with me everywhere I go!

How do you know your inhaler is empty?

You can tell your inhaler is empty by checking the dose counter, if available, which indicates how many doses remain. Additionally, if you shake the inhaler and hear little to no sound of the propellant or if it feels unusually light, it may be empty. You might also notice that the medication does not come out as a fine mist when you use it. If in doubt, consult your healthcare provider for guidance.
