STAY AWAY FROM ANIMALS THAT HAVE RABIES
For pets it is $15-$20. There is a pre-exposure vaccine for humans that is recommended for animal control workers, and also for many rescue workers and any other job that brings you into contact with stray animals or wildlife (especially skunks, raccoons, and foxes). It is more expensive than the animal vaccines. Usually it is ordered through a veterinarian and administered by a doctor or nurse. There is also a painful and expensive series of shots for a person who does not have the pre-exposure vaccine and is exposed to rabies. There is no cure for rabies in people OR animals, and without a vaccine or post-exposure course of shots if you do get rabies, you will not know until symptoms occur. Once symptoms present, it is fatal. A few humans have survived but they are usually vegetables. There are two people we know of who have survived with all faculties intact, but don't take the chance. Always make sure your pets are current on all vaccines, but rabies is the most important. RABIES CAN STILL BE TRANSMITTED IN THE BITE OF AN ANIMAL EVEN IF THEY ARE NOT YET SHOWING SYMPTOMS!!!
If the dog's vaccinations are current, then there is no recorded case of a human contracting the rabies virus from the dog. But, a booster shot is recommended.

If a cat has a rabies shot after it has already become infected with rabies, the shot will be ineffective and the cat can infect people despite having been vaccinated. If the cat receives its rabies shot while it is healthy, and if the shot is effective (which it is nearly all the time), then the cat cannot catch rabies and cannot infect a human. However, a very small number of rabies shots (about one in 100,000) is not effective. Note that the rabies vaccine can lose effectiveness if it is mishandled. In almost all cases, if the original shot is ineffective, the booster shot corrects it.
Human to human rabies has been documented. On record there has been 11 instances according to the CDC. Eight were cornea transplants, and three were solid organ transplants.
Because the rabies shot is a live virus, no. This could increase the rate of your dog getting sick from rabies. Get your dog tested, then if it has rabies, get it rabies injections.
Yes. You can feed the cat before rabies vaccine shot.
today i gave rabies shot to my 3mth old puppy but i m not sure that it went 100% can i give one more shot of rabies vaccine.....
no it's dead
Rabies. Although, if the dog has had it's rabies shot you don't need a vaccine. You just need to get the wound cleaned. Go to your doctor and tell him. He'll know what to do.
no I personally was bitten by a java monkey and I did not have to get a rabies shot, but I did need a tetanus shot.. and that's a pretty big needle!
