This is not a simple question at all. There are many different types of cancers and many different types of insurance plans, all of which must be put in the context of each particular country's healthcare system.

For easy-to-treat cancers (e.g. stage I basal cell carcinomas of the skin), the cost can be as little as $50 (and most of it may be covered by insurance). For complex cancers, which have metastasized to many parts of the body, the cost can easily run into the hundreds of thousands.

In summary, an average cost for cancer treatment, broken down to a per patient per year basis, does not carry much meaning.
