You cut up a fresh ginger into a cup and add boiling water. You drink this when it becomes "drinkable". It gets digested right away.

You can also cut up ginger and put it into a pot of water, then boil this mixture (you could also add honey to this mixture). Drink it hot or cool it in a fridge (after it cools first considerably). It also gets digested right away.
