Fibrosis is the excessive accumulation of fibrous connective tissue in an organ or tissue, leading to scarring and potential loss of function. Cytosis refers to a cellular process involving the movement or transport of a cell. Why are cytosis affected by change in oxygen and diffusion is not?

What causes cytosis?

Cytosis, also known as cellular inflammation, can be caused by various factors such as infections, toxins, injury, or autoimmune reactions. It is the body's response to these stimuli, involving the activation of immune cells and the release of inflammatory mediators to help repair and protect tissues. Chronic cytosis can contribute to the development of diseases such as arthritis, atherosclerosis, and cancer.

What is the difference between cytosis and penia in medical terms?

-cytosis indicates an abnormal increase in a type of cell, and -penia indicates an abnormal decrease. So leukocytosis is abnormal increase in white blood cells, and leukopenia is an abnormal deficiency of white blood cells.

Why is cytosis affected by changes in oxygen level whereas diffusion is not?

Cytosis is an active process that requires energy to transport molecules across a cell membrane, so changes in oxygen levels can impact this energy-dependent process. Diffusion, on the other hand, is a passive process driven by concentration gradients and does not require energy, so changes in oxygen levels do not affect diffusion.
